Head office

Support for pubs

Our head office, based in Watford, Hertfordshire, is known as the Wethercentre.

From audit to operations, maintenance to marketing, our head-office teams are instrumental in ensuring that our pubs have everything they need to run the most efficient and profitable pubs, kitchens and hotels.

Our Wethercentre teams focus on providing all of the support, tools, resources and innovations which our pubs need – to continue being so immensely successful.

Inspirational role model

Wetherspoon’s area manager, Amanda Dunn, is an inspirational role model to any student working as a part-time bar associate or contemplating applying for a job with the company.

In November 2023, Amanda completed her first year as an area manager.

In January this year, she celebrated 20 years with the company – and all before her 40th birthday in February.

As well as a successful Wetherspoon career, she has also raised a family, with two daughters now aged 15 and 12 years old. Amanda said: “A career and family is no more than anyone else in life, but the past 20 years (half my life at Wetherspoon) has flown by – it certainly doesn’t feel like 20 years.”

Forever home!

How area manager Mike found his ‘forever home’.

Wetherspoon’s area manager (Merseyside, Cheshire and Lancashire) Mike Morrissey had a huge surprise when he arrived at The Friar Penketh (Warrington) during his pub visits. Friends, family and colleagues had gathered to surprise Mike and to mark his 25th anniversary with Wetherspoon.

Liverpool-born Mike joined Wetherspoon in October 1996 at the age of 21. He has been joined, along the way, by several family members, including his dad, wife and daughters!

Monster area!

Abby Herdman, an area manager, has followed the career path she wanted for herself and marked 20 years’ work with the company this summer.

Abby was promoted to her area manager role in 2017 and is responsible for a dozen pubs across Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire, as well as one in each of Rutland and Stamford near Peterborough (Cambridgeshire).

She admitted: “Geographically, my area is a monster and I do spend a lot of time travelling. However, I have a really fab job – and what I love the most about it is the people.”
